Statement on the Passing of Reverend Jesse Jackson

The Bikes Not Bombs community mourns the loss and celebrates the incredible life of Reverend Jesse Jackson, a man whose vision for a more just and inclusive world reshaped the landscape of American progress.

At Bikes Not Bombs, we are deeply moved by Reverend Jackson’s lifelong commitment to building the 'Rainbow Coalition' — a powerful, multigenerational, and multiracial movement that proved our greatest strength lies in our unity across differences. He understood that whether we are fighting for civil rights, economic justice, or environmental sustainability, we are all part of one single garment of destiny.

His impact on the global Left and grassroots organizing is immeasurable. He taught us that the marginalized belong at the center of the conversation, not the fringes. As we continue our work to empower youth and provide sustainable transportation in our communities, we carry his spirit of 'Keeping Hope Alive' with us. We honor him by continuing to build the coalitions he championed—ensuring that the next generation has the tools, the wheels, and the collective power to move toward a more equitable future.
