Help Send Bikes to Ghana
10:00am - 5:00 pm
at 179 Boylston St, Jamaica Plain
We're ready for another shipment to the Village Bicycle Project in Ghana! Thanks to the bike donors, bike drive organizers and helpers, and our Donations Coordinator Steve Bosco for supplying the 480-500 bikes and spare parts that will fill this container. Come help out for whatever times work for you. We'll take a break around 1pm for a pizza lunch (provided) and a short talk about the project. For more info on the Village Bicycle Project, see pcei.org/vbp/ww.htm. RSVP encouraged but not required.
Also see our November 7th event listing for details on an event here at BNB, where you can see the documentary film "Ayamye" which follows a shipment of bikes from BNB to their eventual uses in Ghana. Dave Peckham of the Village Bicycle Project will be on hand to introduce the film and answer questions afterwards. (see separate Nov 7th listing)
DIRECTIONS
This event does NOT happen at Bikes Not Bombs, but it's just around the corner.
We will be loading from a big parking lot at 179 Boylston St., Jamaica Plain, 2 blocks from the StonyBrook T stop on the Orange Line. Coming from the NEW BNB at 284 Amory Street, turn right on Amory (which puts you travelling away from the Green St T stop, towards the StoneyBrook T stop). Turn right on Boylston Street (where the StoneyBrook T stop is on your left) and then turn right into a large parking lot which is part of the Brewery Complex. You'll see our 40 ft. shipping container parked in this lot, just off the street.
